I graduated from Manchester University in 1991 with two degrees (one in French, one in Spanish) but decided to do something completely different and become an accountant. I started as an audit trainee that year at an independent Lancashire based firm, qualifying in 1994. I moved to Manchester in 2000, where I worked at various Top 10 firms. In 2016 I was granted my RI (Responsible Individual) licence, enabling me to sign off audit reports, which is the pinnacle of the audit profession. I have worked almost exclusively in audit, but my skills have also been in demand for Internal Audit, Risk Management and Corporate Finance projects over the years. My work has taken me overseas to places as diverse as Qatar, Kenya and the EU (France, Netherlands, Italy). In 2021 I moved to Ascendis to set up Ascendis Audit Limited. My sectors of expertise include automotive, international, FCA, and manufacturing.
The team is young and keen to learn in a fast-growing and dynamic group.
We work as a team across the group, empowering and supporting each other to meet our personal objectives and our clients’ goals and deadlines.
Doctor Who – first watched this (and vividly remember it!) as a 4 year old back in 1973 and have watched it ever since. The Tom Baker era (1974 – 1981) remains the best.
Scandinavia – the people are friendly, the landscapes are beautiful, there’s no traffic (even in the capitals) and life is laid back. It’s expensive but worth it. The only country I have yet to visit is Finland so that’s next on my list.
I collect (and build) Lego sets. I have around 70 sets but am running out of space to put them (and the boxes), so may have to stop now. They are as much a part of my pension planning as my stocks and shares ISA or bank savings (in fact some sets show more growth than both!)
