A great location to work

Our main office is in Wilmslow, Cheshire with ample parking and is an easy commute from Manchester. Thanks to our out of city location, we are able to offer a great work life balance.

  • A holiday entitlement of 25 days (plus 8 bank holidays) per annum of which 3 must be taken in between Christmas and New Year (the balance are given as a form of bonus as the office is shut in this period). The holiday year runs from January to December, so, for your first year it will be on a pro-rata basis.
  • You will also get an additional day off in lieu for your Birthday each year.
  • After 3 years’ service, an additional days holiday per annum up to a maximum of 30 days per annum.
  • Private Medical Insurance (PMI) after 2 years of service.
  • You may also re-claim mileage expenses and disbursements incurred servicing Ascendis clients or on Ascendis business. Mileage can be re-claimed at 25p per mile (home or office to client’s premises) and other expenses at cost.
Other aspects of the offer are

We have the ‘Ascendis Rewards’ incentive scheme, where you get a % (15% in most cases) bonus relating to your personal involvement in the sourcing and signing up of new business into Ascendis, which can be based on a percentage of the first year’s fee.

Ascendis Rewards also includes a bonus scheme for any successful introductions you initiate relative to any of the below:-

  • Q: Do you recruit graduates with no prior accountancy experience

    A: Yes, we do. We offer a balanced mix of hands-on experience and training along with support with professional exams and tuition. You’ll also enjoy a high level of responsibility as we strive to help you reach your full potential.

  • Q: I can’t see a role advertised – is it worth sending my CV?

    A: Yes absolutely. We are always happy to hear from talented, like-minded people who share our values.

  • Q: Do you keep CVs on file and if so for how long?

    A: Yes – we keep your details on file for 6 months unless you request otherwise.

  • Q: What qualifications do I need to become a trainee accountant?

    A: Normally, we look for strong GCSE and/or A-Level results.

  • Q: Is there more to accountancy than number-crunching and spreadsheets?

    A: Most definitely! It’s not essential that you are a brilliant mathematician. There are many personal attributes that are more important than maths.

  • Q: What personal attributes do you look for in your recruits?

    A: Good interpersonal skills, an eye for detail and good analytical skills are all important. You should also have good English language skills, both written and verbal, and have a ‘can-do’ attitude.
